Olivia Wakefield

Olivia Wakefield is a Partner in our Boston office.



Olivia Wakefield is an experienced strategic advisor and business leader, providing trusted counsel to Boards of Directors and senior executive leadership with deep experience developing and implementing executive compensation and total reward strategies to enable business performance and drive results. As a Partner in the Boston Office, Olivia brings extensive executive compensation advisory experience and a unique perspective fostered by 25 years in both consulting and corporate roles. Olivia’s executive compensation expertise includes executive compensation strategy, incentive design, equity program design, preparation for IPO, divestiture, acquisition and other transactions, investor engagement and disclosure support, retention, and severance / change-in-control programs. Earlier in her career, Olivia founded the life sciences executive compensation practice at Willis Towers Watson. She then went on to address complex executive compensation and total rewards issues as the Global Head of Total Rewards at Shire and the SVP, Global Head of Total Rewards at Takeda (which acquired Shire). Olivia has experience in supporting Boards of Directors and senior management with global expertise that spans the United States, Europe and Asia. During her career, Olivia has served as the Board-appointed executive compensation advisor across many industries with a specialized focus on biotech, biopharma, pharmaceutical, medical device and healthcare companies at all stages of development.


Olivia received her Master of Business Administration from the Simmons College Graduate School of Management as a Deans Merit Scholar. Prior to that she attended Bates College, majoring in Comparative Religion, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with Phi Beta Kappa honors. She has also successfully completed the Harvard Business School program, Business Leaders as Change Agents.

Previous experience

Prior to joining Pay Governance, Olivia was a Partner at Willis Towers Watson and led the global executive compensation life sciences industry practice. Recently, Olivia was the Global Head of Total Rewards at Shire Pharmaceuticals and was appointed as the Shire HR integration lead during the Shire/Takeda acquisition. Subsequently, Olivia served as the Senior Vice President and Global Head of Total Rewards at Takeda.

Additional Information

Olivia has been a speaker on compensation issues to governance and industry groups, such as the National Association of Stock Plan Professionals, The Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO), and WorldatWork. Olivia has also been a guest lecturer at Simmons University and the Rady School of Management, UC San Diego.
