Director Pay Returns to Pre-Pandemic Trajectory

Aubrey Bout, managing partner at Pay Governance, told Agenda that while directors want their pay to appear competitive for the purpose of recruiting new directors, they also want to ensure that their compensation aligns with company performance. If the company’s not doing well, he said, directors will seriously question whether or not to give themselves a pay increase, “especially if management got a poor bonus.”
